Cowboy Dying of Cancer Gets to See His Horse for the Last Time

There’s no shortage of reunion videos on the internet, but here’s one is so sad that it might just bring you to tears.

55-year-old Kansas cowboy Kevin Adkins knew he was dying of cancer and didn’t have much time left. So he told his daughter he had one last wish: to see his horse Vic, who he had spent nearly every day for two decades with prior to getting sick.

Jennifer Wadley’s family, which owns the D&J Ranch, had sold Vic to Kevin 20 years ago and she remembers they were inseparable. “They’ve been partners for all these years,” Jennifer said. Whether it was raining, snowing, or “hotter than heck, he was always here.”

Even while battling cancer for three years, Kevin would care for Vic: brushing him, feeding him, picking his feet and just spending time with him. “It’s truly a love story between a man and a horse,” Jennifer said. “It was just an unbelievable friendship.”
