Robin Williams First Time on Johnny Carson Left Us Breathless with Laughter

Robin Williams was one of our favorite celebrities and many of us mourned his passing in 2014. He was a brilliant comedian and actor, and his many acts of charity also demonstrated he had a good heart. This video shows his first time on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and it’s well worth looking at again.

Robin’s improvisational skills were legendary and they were immediately on display when Carson introduced him. His antics, voices and physical comedy immediately had Carson, sidekick Ed McMahon and the entire audience in stitches.

Interestingly, Robin’s first Carson appearance came in 1981 after he already had achieved some fame for the TV show Mork and Mindy, which he had starred in since 1978 with Pam Dauber. He had actually also starred in the movie Popeye, which didn’t do much at the box office.

It was after this appearance that his movie career began to take off with films such as  The World According to Garp (1982), Moscow on the Hudson (1984), and Good Morning, Vietnam (1987). Robin’s movie career launched to the next level when he played the lead in Dead Poets Society (1989) and thereafter he was in a string of box-office smashes such as  Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) and Good Will Hunting (1997), for which he was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actor.

As most of us know, Williams committed suicide in 2014 after a long battle with depression. It was a tragic ending for a man who brought so much laughter to the world.  Watch the video below and please leave us a Facebook comment to let us know what you thought!
