The video below is a performance from the TV show America’s Got Talent by a contestant named Mitch Rossell. Mitch’s story is truly amazing. He tells the story of his youth, how his father gave him a guitar but he was too busy with sports to play it. Then when he was a teenager, his dad (and grandparents) were killed when a drunk driver crossed into their lane. He felt empty and eventually took up the guitar as a way to reconnect with his dad.
Fast forward to his audition, where he sings his original song “Son.” He says it’s the true story of his life and it is far more heart-wrenching than his narrative. The song is about his relationship with his father, but it’s also a tale of Mitch’s journey of redemption. He has his own son now and it’s his own son that allows him to understand his life journey.
The performance is truly amazing. It has the entire audience in tears and they explode into applause when he’s finished. The judges are also moved to tears and give him a standing ovation. Simon Cowell, one of the judges, tells Mitch that he has a real talent and that he’s going to go far.
Mitch’s story is one of tragedy and redemption, but it’s also a story of hope. His music has touched the hearts of millions and his story has inspired countless others. Mitch’s performance on America’s Got Talent is a testament to the power of music and the human spirit. It’s a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope.
