Rare Clip of Johnny Cash Doing Elvis Presley Impersonation is Solid Gold

I am a big fan of Elvis Presley and an even bigger fan of Johnny Cash. So when I saw this video of Cash doing an awesome Elvis impersonation, I nearly lost my mind! This was back in 1959 when Cash was a 27-year-old country artist who had a number of hit songs like “I Walk the Line”, “Don’t Take Your Guns to Town”, and “There You Go”.

On this particular show, he received some requests for an impersonation of a certain rock and roll singer. Cash shares his humor with us when he attempts one on The King of Rock and Roll himself; though he doesn’t directly say whose impression he is doing.

To be exact, “This is an impersonation of a rock and roll singer impersonating Elvis, is what this really is,” Johnny says. He starts combing his hair and shaking his hips and sings “Heartbreak Hotel,” one of Elvis’s signature songs. He does a remarkable job! I must say, this is the best one I have seen!

A lot of people don’t know that Johnny and Elvis were friends and Elvis even invited Johnny to visit him in Memphis at Graceland in 1957, a couple of years before this video. Maybe that’s where he picked up Elvis’s moves! Watch the video below and please leave us a Facebook comment to let us know what you thought!
