Young Dancers’ Smooth Moves Earn 1st Place at National Shag Competition

There is no doubt that Carolina shag dancing is making a comeback! Moreover, people are embracing this style of dancing by lining up to watch the National Shag Dance Championship. And rightfully so, as talents like Tucker Brown and Gracie Pandure are bringing the heat in the arena!

Both Carolina natives, Gracie and Tucker, have great respect for the dance, which sees its origin in their home state. Moreover, they are participating in the Junior division of the biggest Shag competition in the world! Matching in red, the 7th and 8th graders stand in position after the host introduces them. And when the music begins— Wow!

An unlikely choice from teens, “Queen of the 88’s” by Kelley Hunt, plays on the speakers. And suddenly, the duo erupt into twists and twirls! Moreover, their feet glide on the floor with impeccable coordination.
