While in labor, Asha Attie, a small Shih Tzu, was abandoned at a Los Angeles shelter. Her fur was completely matted and infested with fleas, indicating that she had lived a life of severe neglect. The matting was so bad that she couldn’t nurse her four puppies when they arrived, putting their lives in jeopardy.
That’s when the Bill Foundation received an urgent request, asking if they could save this mama and give her family a better life. The team stepped in, and they were on their way to the shelter within hours.
When they arrived and took the little family to the vet, Asha was separated from her puppies so that she could be groomed as soon as possible. It took over 90 minutes to shave her, but only moments for her to start feeding her babies the nutrients they needed to thrive.
