Humans pride themselves for being the smartest creatures on the planet. We have made so many advances in all fields, and things are only progressing more and more. But animals are not to be underestimated. There are so many animals out there that show some really high IQ. When you think of smart animals, perhaps the first thing that pops into mind are humans’ closest relatives, apes and monkeys. But they are just the tip of the iceberg.
When it comes to brain capacity, primates, dogs and even dolphins come first to mind. They are shown to have some amazing thinking skills which can match even young human beings. While they are normally on the top of the list, one scientist decided to test the intelligence of crows. The following video shows an experiment that they conducted to see the thinking skills of crows, and they were in for a surprise indeed.
Meet Dr Alex Taylor. He usually carries out research on wild birds. For this experiment, he set up the most difficult problem involving a task ever for his test subject 007, who happened to be a crow. This video was taken for Inside the Animal Mind: Episode 2 from BBC Two. The crows had to solve a series of difficult puzzles and tests to get to his goal. What unfolded next left everyone in awe.
The crow showed some superior thinking and problem-solving capacities. You won’t underestimate crows after watching this video!
