Parenting is hard. And if you are a working mom, it’s even harder. Sometimes, while juggling through office and home, we can’t give our children the attention they require. And sometimes our parenting style can backfire.
One mother found out the hard way that even the day care had an opinion on what they “shouldn’t be doing” when their children arrived. When she saw a striking sign in the lobby, she decided to take a picture of it.
Juliana Mazurkewicz, a mother from Texas, picked up her daughter from day care one afternoon. When Juliana first got there, she was sidetracked by a sign posted for all the parents to see. Common problems, such as food allergies or the need to send extra clothing, were not addressed. Instead, the message was directed at parents and their cell phone use.
The sign read:
“GET OFF YOUR PHONE!!!! Your child is happy to see you! Are you happy to see your child? We have seen children trying to hand their parents their work they completed and the parent is on the phone. We have heard a child say ‘Mommy, mommy, mommy…’ and the parent is paying more attention to their phone than their own child.”
This daycare made sure to show the parents what they had to know. While their intention was kind, this picture sparked alot of debate online.
Someone had to say what the daycare said. One of the facebook user wrote:
“How do you know the call isnt important some people actually pic their kids up while they are working and they need that phone to do their job. How about people mind their own business and if you dont like it move on”
