Wrongly Imprisoned for 36 Yrs, He Gives ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’ New Meaning

We’ve all watched a lot of talent show auditions–I know, I’ve posted them and many of you have seen them. But this one has got to be in the top ten “Most Emotional” that I’ve ever seen.

Archie Williams has an amazing story. He was walking down the streets of his native Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and was stopped by the police. The next thing he knew, he was imprisoned for three felonies he didn’t commit and he spent the next three decades trying to prove he was innocent. He was finally exonerated by DNA evidence after 36 years.

The entire time he was in prison, Archie said, the one thing that kept him going was his music.

Archie competed on America’s Got Talent a few years ago and made it to the Top Ten but no farther. This year he’s back on the AGT All-Stars competition.

He introduces his song by talking about how music helped him through the hard years. So the meaning and power he pours into the Bill Withers classic, “Ain’t No Sunshine” is raw and emotional.
