Over 65 Years Ago, Jerry Lewis Stepped Out with This Incredible Jitterbug

Jerry Lewis is an American actor who is perhaps best known for his comedies and slapstick physical humor. He was half of one of the most famous comedy duos of all times, the other half being singer/movie star Dean Martin.

Jerry, whose birth name was Joseph Levitch, is respected and has been honored for his contributions in comedy, and he has also used his fame to raise hundreds of millions of dollars for muscular dystrophy awareness and research. His annual telethon over the Labor Day weekend was seen by billions of people and benefitted thousands with the terrible disease.

In addition to starring in movies and stand-up comedy, Lewis actually had a brief singing career and taught film at the University of Southern California, where he had George Lucas as a student and Steven Spielberg sometimes sat in to listen.

This scene is from the movie from 1954 called Living It Up. It shows Lewis performing a stunning Jitterbug dance. The movie also featured his partner, Dean Martin. It is amazing how well he has managed to balance looking goofy while still pulling off some technically challenging moves! This really makes you feel nostalgic about movies in the old days, doesn’t it! Watch the great video below and please leave us a Facebook comment to let us know what you thought!
