She Stepped Near a Wild Horse but Watch When She Kneels Down to Take Its Picture

The following video just might bring you to tears. It shares info about a series of film portraits centered around women photographers who have devoted themselves to filming how horses live in the wild. It is called “Strong Women, Wild Horses”. These amazing photographers have documented areas like the Great Basin, one of the few remaining untamed places in the USA, to find free-roaming horses. Their stunning works show us how wild horses live in harsh and feral territories that test the limits of mankind itself.

This beautiful film not only shows the magnificence of the horses but also explains how they are caught in the middle of a fierce land battle. Ranching industry stresses for more land for cattle, and oil producers plot to extend massive pipelines across the country, but none of them stop to think the effects that they are causing in the lives of these animals. Their home has become a war zone.

These women are trying their best to capture both sides of the story – the beauty of the horses living in the wild and the current tragedy in their lives as they are being driven to extinction.

The poor horses are chased by helicopters and herded into captivity. Foals are separated from their mothers and stallions are slaughtered with stun guns. These photographers have captured such moments into this heartrendingly beautiful short. Check out the video below. What did you think about that?
