Teens’ Footwork Impresses Judges, Securing First Place at Grand Nationals

The Carolina Shag began in the 1940s on the beaches of South Carolina. Moreover, it was popular amongst teens who would sneak off to dance all night long! Now, the people who grew up seeing this dance hold it near and dear. However, it has been making a comeback, and teens like Mack West and Trinity Davis are stealing the spotlight!

Although Shag dancing seems pretty simple, performers have a lot that they need to keep in mind. Moreover, couples need to coordinate their fancy footsteps while making it look like they put the least amount of effort! And let’s not forget the importance of chemistry that this two-people dance needs. Luckily, these teens check all the boxes!

After the host announces their names, the young couple comes to stage with big smiles on their faces. As soon as “NYC Song” by John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band begins playing, they glide on their feet. Furthermore, their synchronization is just effortless! With the fantastic twists and turns, all eyes are on the brilliant Mack West.

And we can’t forget Trinity’s beautiful smile and incredible footwork. Watch the performance that wins these junior competitors first prize below and please leave us a Facebook comment to let us know what you thought!
