Woman Spots Mannequin Of Herself In Window, Looks Around And Struggles To Hold Back Tears

Mannequins are made for displaying clothes and accessories a store has to offer. But sadly, these mannequins do not have a diverse enough body shape and size. Most of the times, they don’t even cater to the average sized person – let alone people with disabilities. Mannequins can make differently abled people feel inadequate. And it was about time somebody did something about it. That is why Pro Infirmis stepped up to the plate.

Pro Infirmis is a charity organization for people with disabilities. When you hear about their special project, it is going to make your whole day! The organization came up with a genius idea to create a variety of mannequins. They molded them and displayed them alongside the regular mannequins in a store in Sweden. “Between the ‘perfect’ mannequins, there will be figures representing everyone in society. The campaign has been devised for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities by Pro Infirmis…”

A member of the Pro Infirmis Executive Board, Mark Zumbühl, explains why this project is so important for shaping society’s perception. He says, “We often go chasing after ideals instead of accepting life in all its diversity. We strive especially for the acceptance.”
