The power of music is truly amazing. Certain songs remind people of family and loved ones, and music therapy is often used to heal trauma and rehabilitate. In this video we see how one senior living center uses music to help residents remember a seemingly forgotten past. And we also see the power such stories can have on us in the present.

A.G. Rhodes Health and Rehab Center in Atlanta uses music as therapy. Rosemary Bower a 99-year-old, listens to music brings back the happy times when she was a child. For Linda Mayberry’s mother, who has dementia, music is the only thing that brings back her memories and allows her to recognize her daughter.

One of highlights of this clip is watching a room full of residents completely transformed when the therapist breaks out his guitar. The staff believes the music helps them feel young once again.

But the most poignant moment is at the end, after the recorded clip ends.
