Melissa Gilbert, Child Star From ‘Little House on the Prairie,’ Finally Speaks Out

The TV show Little House on the Prairie ran for eight seasons, 1974 to 1982, and was a big hit. Based upon the Little House book series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the show starred Michael Landon, Karen Grassle and child star Melissa Gilbert.

The show was NBC’s highest rated scripted show (as opposed to unscripted variety shows and news shows) and made Melissa into a star. CBS Sunday Morning interviewed her about the fact that in recent years, the show has experienced something of a comeback through syndicated reruns.

The star looks back to her days in one of the most-watched shows during the 70s and early 80s’. She remembers it being an enjoyable summer camp where she could play dress up. When asked about the recent popularity.
