Man Demonstrates What to Do if You Are Choking and Alone

Thousands of people lose their lives by accidentally swallowing food or other foreign objects that obstruct their airways. Moreover, choking is something that can happen to anyone. So, it is better to take precautions. You could save a life by learning techniques such as the Heimlich Maneuver. But what do you do when you are all alone and start choking?

The main goal when you’re choking is to dislodge whatever is stuck in your airpipe. Logically, this means you have to expel as much air as possible from your lungs so that the item will be forced to come out. Luckily, firefighter, paramedic, and CPR instructor Jeff Rehman devised a way by which you can save your own life if you happen to choke alone.

First, you need to get down on your knees. Then, move into a pushup position with your hand on the floor. Now, what you have to do is let your arms go in a northward way. This means eject your hands above your head in one quick motion! Moreover, you want your arms to come out from underneath you so that you land straight on your chest. Furthermore, this physically forces your lungs to compress so that air moves out of your air cavity. Watch the video below for detailed instructions:
