Festival Crowd Rocks a Sexy ‘Footloose’ Line Dance – in Italy!

What do you do when dancing is against the law? That’s the plot of the hit motion picture Footloose, which was loosely based upon the town of Elmore City, Oklahoma.

Elmore City had banned dancing since it was founded in 1898, reportedly to cut down on drinking. After never having had a high school prom, in 1980 the students petitioned the school board and successfully got the ban overturned.

Footloose was so influential that a town has a festival held in its honor every year in, of all places, a historical town of Voghera in the Lombardy region of Italy! People from all over the world descend upon the town in cowboy hats and boots to celebrate western living–and of course dancing!

And do these people know how to dance! Country line dances are always fun, but its so unique to see one set to the Kenny Loggins song “Footloose,” the title track from the movie, and be performed in hats and boots in Italy!  I think you’re really going to enjoy this. Watch the video below and please leave us a Facebook comment to let us know what you thought!
