Native Americans Start Their Pow Wow Dance – A U.S. Marine Jumps Right In

The United States of America is really diverse. It is home to so many beautiful cultures, races, and characters. It is amazing when people from different backgrounds celebrate each other’s diversity, and appreciate each other. The video below features one of these amazing instances. You are going to be smiling from ear to ear when you see this marine dance at a Native American event. No wonder it went viral on the internet! It is so beautiful to watch!

Native Americans have been an important aspect of the United States Armed Forces for a very long time now. The “Code Talkers” from Native American tribes helped transmit secret messages to Allied Forces all around the world during both the World Wars. They have helped millions of people through their service. They deserve all our love and gratefulness. In this video, Lance Corporal Marland Trey Kent does a special dance at the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma Powwow, held in 2014.

It turns out the other man dancing is his father, who is also active duty military. This is what Dad had to say: “The only thing that needs to be known is this is a father and son next to each other: Corporal Vincent Kent (combat veteran) with Lance Corporal Marland Trey Kent. Both were active duty at the time this video was made. This is also a changing of the guard, Native American style, which is the story we are telling in our dancing. We crossed paths just once with myself in front and with son behind me. Then, I turned to let him lead the rest of the way. We did not practice this dance, nor are we just two random guys. We are both straight dancers from the Ponca War Dance Society. That’s why he busted a move the way he did!”
