Menswear blogs are enjoying a major moment
, but we’d venture to bet that most men aren’t exactly warming up en masse to weekly shopping excursions. So it's no surprise that the subscription service model, traditionally geared toward women
, has brought forth some new platforms intended for men. For stylish guys (and those who aspire to be), these deluxe deliveries take the guesswork out of dapper living.
On a mission to transform ordinary men into gentlemen “one box at a time,” Bespoke Post ships out limited-edition gift boxes stocked with quirky-cool goods for guys. Product selections are curated by the Bespoke Post
staff, with each monthly kit—alternately referred to as a “Box of Awesome”—adhering to a gentlemanly theme. The latest, “Summer Essentials,” featured all the trappings of a dad-approved picnic, including a set of dominoes, fold-up sunglasses, and a quick-dry linen blanket. Monthly kits cost $45 each, but subscribers don’t have to worry about pre-paying for a clunker, since they can merely opt in or out each month based on a sneak-peek at upcoming inventory.
A swanky kick-off
at NYC’s SoHo Grand recently celebrated the inaugural shipment of Svbscription, a high-end parcel-delivery service designed for men of discerning taste. Veering away from the standard subscription model, Svbscription promises a quarterly delivery of hand-selected products and experiences for an annual membership fee of $1,100. The company hasn’t revealed the nature of said “experiences,” but subscribers can likely expect luxurious takes on traditional adventures (glamping, anyone?). The members’ list will be capped at 100, guaranteeing inner-circle status to those make the cut. The most indulgent among them can opt to pay an additional fee to upgrade their membership and receive even more exclusive goods.
Monthly food delivery services have been around for ages, but have generally failed to garner more than a tepid response—after all, nothing says “I remembered at the last minute” like a gift membership to a fruit-of-the-month club. But niche curation
is reviving this sleepy business model. In the same vein as the recently launched Lollihop, which features a mix of healthy, new-to-market snacks, Mantry delivers monthly shipments of gourmet provisions for the modern man’s pantry, mainly foodie-approved versions
of manly snack staples, such as small-batch hot sauce, Half Pops popcorn kernels, and, in a nod to a current trend
, Norwegian reindeer jerky.
