TRENDCENTRAL PICKS: GROW YOUR OWN EDITION
Stylish modern terrariums, blooming jewelry, and stationery that grows
Gardens don't have to be outside! Here are three fun flora meant to bloom anywhere but:
The New Terrarium : Fascinated as we are with all things '70s, this new tome by garden expert Tovah Martin provides a stylish modern update for these glass-covered live masterpieces. The easy-to-follow, photo-driven, step-by-step instructions include a variety of styles and themes, using vessels one might have around the house, such as cake stands, vases, fishbowls, and even martini glasses. Martin's years of experience and clear eye for design are evident, with DIY details including appropriate "under glass" plants and flowers, planting materials, and maintenance instructions.
Blossom Pendant: Lately it feels like blooms are the new black. These glass pendants, or mini vases, hold a few drops of water or soil, and a freshly cut flower or bud. The design keeps the pendant in place so no water or soil is lost. And with floral dresses topping the list for spring fashion, it's the perfect accessory.
Botanical Paperworks Plantable Paper: There's only so long you can keep a note tacked up on on the fridge: These paper products not only greet, invite, and thank, but they also grow. The 100% post-consumer waste products are embedded with a variety of wildflower seeds, such as Poppy, Snap Dragon, Bird's Eye, and even White Spruce. After the products are used, the seeded paper should be placed on top of soil, then covered in a thin layer and watered regularly. Six weeks later, plants will grow straight from the paper.
