FASHION WEBSITES TO KNOW
Search by garment, seek friends' outfit opinions, and find discount shopping codes
Weardrobe : This site is a forum for street style-savvy fashionistas to connect with each other and share pictures of their outfits. Users tag clothing items with article, color or brand so that others can see all the different ways it's been worn. Each person's repertoire of garments is represented as an icon on virtual shelves. For example, someone might be looking through your shelf and see that you have a bright yellow cardigan - interested to see how you pulled that off, they can click on the icon to pull up all the photos of outfits it was included in. Users can also post comments and questions under each picture. While the site will probably be more fun and useful when it has more members, it's certainly gaining attention from the online fashion community, including Style Rookie fashion blogger Tavi who has a profile.
pikkee: Who hasn't sometimes wished their friends were around to help make an outfit decision? This site gives users the ability to post potential outfits with explanations such as info on the occasion it will be worn or why you want to include a specific article. Friends provide feedback on the look and the outfit can be remixed accordingly. pikkee makes sense for a generation who, while maintaining their own individual style, also wants the approval of their friends.
reesycakes: With the economy in a downturn, shopping is as much about getting a great garment as it is about getting a great deal. Fashion blogs are increasingly including discount shopping codes (passwords to obtain discounts while shopping online) for their readers so they can affordably attain the styles included in their posts. One of our favorite budget-conscious blogs, Clutch22, names reesycakes as one of the go-to destinations for these discount codes. While not a new site, it's one of the best that caters to the fashion and beauty category. One reason it is so helpful is that all the codes are posted by users. Although there is no guarantee that all codes are still valid, bargain hunters tell us that discounts from one retailer can always be used to try to haggle a lower price from another retailer.
