ONES TO WATCH: TECH
Three highly anticipated gadgets people are talking about
MacBook Touch: It's not official yet, and while we don't typically write about products that haven't been formally announced, even the most highly skeptical tech blogs seem to believe that the rumors about this dream device are true. The tablet computer is expected to have a smaller version of the MacBook's screen, cased in glass with iPhone-like touchscreen features. Unfortunately, we won't know until October if this will actually be hitting stores - but if it does, plan to line up for it.
FutureU: Rumors of a Kaplan SAT prep game for the Nintendo DS have been floating around for months, and now a prototype has finally been made available to gaming critics. Called FutureU, the game will have over 1,200 questions spread out over four different question types. Questions will not be real SAT questions, nor will players be "graded". Rather, players will be tested on SAT concepts, such as reading comprehension and vocabulary. With the college admissions process being more competitive than ever, we expect parents will be more than happy to buy their kids this game rather than pay for an exorbitantly priced SAT class.
BlackBerry Thunder: Rumored to become available to consumers in September, the next BlackBerry device is RIM's answer to the iPhone. While the Thunder has a touchscreen like the iPhone, it will also offer tactile feedback when a key is pressed, as well as a larger keyboard - all of which has tech insiders speculating that it could be even better than the gadget that inspired it. The phone will be available exclusively to Verizon subscribers in the US and Vodafone subscribers abroad.
