HD Makeup, Vibrating Mascara and Medicures Plus: Where the Hell is Matt?
|
HD Makeup: While the advent of high-definition video is great for consumers, it's made life more difficult for the actors/actresses on the flipside of the screen. Enter high-definition makeup, a new cosmetics category that's been developed to hide the most minuscule imperfections, even under the most fine-tuned lens. Although the concept was created to help working actors better prepare for their close-ups, a growing number of consumer beauty brands, including Christian Dior, Smashbox, and Cargo, are peddling HD skin care products intended for everyday wear.

Vibrating Mascara: One of the biggest concerns of regular mascara wearers is avoiding the accumulation of makeup in the lashes that creates the unattractive "spider eyes" affect. The advent of battery-powered vibrating mascara brushes aims to fix this problem by imitating the speedy motion of professional makeup artists. Estee Lauder's TurboLash All Effects Motion Mascara is set to hit the market next month and will sell for $30 exclusively at Saks. This fall, Lancôme will introduce their new brush called Ôscillation, which vibrates 7,000 times per minute. Now you'll never have to leave the house looking like Tammy Faye again.

Medicures: Due to women's love of fabulous (albeit extremely uncomfortable) shoes, many feet are taking a brutal beating and, as a result, some women are developing orthopedic problems that can no longer be remedied by traditional pedicure and foot massage practices. Manolo addicts are resorting to injectible foot implants to provide temporary cushioning to the boniest and most collision-prone part of the foot (synthetic fillers and fat are said to provide up to nine months of relief), while some of the worst offenders are turning to shock-therapy and nerve-freezing Cryotherapy to combat chronic pain, discomfort and swelling. Those who aren't so far gone are keeping shock therapy treatments at bay with regular foot "facial" therapy, complete with microdermabrasion technology, glycolic peels, collagen-building laser treatments, and even toenail bleaching remedies.

And by the way:
The third installment of the viral video hit "Where the Hell is Matt?" - which features Internet celebrity Matt Harding doing a jig type dance in locations all over the world - was launched earlier this month. His 2006 version of the dancing video was viewed on YouTube more than 9.7 million times making it one of YouTube's most viewed videos of all time.
