IG PICKS: HOT KID PRODUCTS
A conscious shop, ink-inspired kid clothes, a breast milk screening kit, and more
The Little Seed: The brainchild of three moms who wanted to create a shop for parents interested in purchasing (and learning about) organic and sustainable products for their kids, this LA boutique (those not in the area can shop the online site) is conscious from the inside out, complete with non-toxic paint, sustainable furnishings and recycled shopping bags. Healthy, handcrafted products from around the world abound, including maple wood teething rings, baby bottles made from PES plastic, and adorable clothing, bedding and furniture. The shop is more than just a retail hub,it is also a parent haven, with a diaper changing station, a nursing lounge, a play area for little ones, and occasional educational seminars on topics pertaining to creating healthy family environments. It's a store where you'll not only love the things you buy, but also love shopping in.
Baby Eggi: The antithesis to exorbitantly priced designer duds for babies and toddlers, Baby Eggi offers a collection of high design wares for little ones that won't break the bank. A collaboration between two moms who happen to be sisters and famed LA-based tattoo artist Mark Mahoney, the tees feature hip ink-inspired designs and come in a variety of colors and styles for "chicks" and "dudes." While the styles will keep chic moms happy, the super soft fabrics will keep kids and babies extra comfy. Even better, the company's Good Eggi program donates 20% of all sales to non-profit organizations benefiting kids in need.
UpSpring Baby: This innovative Texas-based company offers products to help parents solve some of the problems that come with raising babies and small children. Some of our favorites include the MilkScreen, a simple at-home test that indicates the volume of alcohol concentrated in a mom's breast milk (so they can enjoy a glass of wine with peace of mind); the Night Knight, a motion sensing pod for sleeping infants that promotes "on back" sleeping; and the Walking Wings training tool designed to help toddlers adapt to balance, gain confidence, and ultimately take their first steps sooner.
