ON THE RADAR: TWEEN TRENDS
A pint-sized chef, a green virtual world, and a monster antidote Plus: Praise for Old Navy
FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Lizzie Marie : Move over Rachel Ray, eight-year-old Lizzie Marie could be the next main course du jour. Creative Culinary Officer of Lizzie Marie Cuisine, Lizzie Marie got her start selling her healthy goods at a local farmers market and went global with her weekly online video cooking demonstrations hosted by iFOOD.TV. Lizzie promotes using natural and fresh ingredients to make simple meals, inspires kids to get crafty in the kitchen and may even give mom a break from chef duties.

LOG ON

Hulala Girls: A website based on three surfer girls who are "Princesses of the Sea, Earth and Sky", HulalaGirls.com offers tweens games that carry the princess surfers on their island journey using humor and environmentally friendly solutions to save the day. The site already sports an avatar boutique and green stamp of approval (for every plush doll sold, a Hulala tree is planted), and in the future expect the property to branch out into social networking, merchandising and perhaps even a TV show.

SLEEP TIGHT

Monster Go Away! Spray: Monsters under the bed are no longer something to worry about with this mompreneur invention. The aromatic oil-based spray is designed to reduce tweens' anxiety and stress and empower them to take control of their fears. Essential oils, such as lavender, have been touted for their soothing qualities making falling asleep child's play.

And by the way: More fashion forward than their average collection, Old Navy's new "Urban Explorer" spring line is luring in fashionistas who wouldn't normally shop at the bargain retailer.
