Tavalon Tea Bar: Aiming to lure the young and hip, this sleek Union Square Tea Salon employs an in-house DJ and tea sommelier. The proprietors—two twentysomethings who have made it their mission to introduce the tea drinking experience to a younger generation—have masterfully fused the sophistication of a tea parlor with the vibe of an ultra-modern lounge. However, the atmosphere is just part of the lure: once there, customers quickly get hooked on the exotic tea blends, fresh salads, sandwiches and pastries. The Container Store: Okay, maybe it’s our own OCD, but the opening of the new Container Store in LA’s Century City Mall feels like a big trend to us! The shoe holders, the drawer organizers, the endless little boxes...maybe it’s just a way of putting a little order in our otherwise chaotic lives, but whatever it is, this place actually makes us want to tidy up. (If only we had known about it back in college.) For organizational inspiration, be sure to check it out before October 29th, when the grand opening installations created by local tastemakers come down. And if you’re not in LA, don’t worry: there are locations all over the country.
